One of our favorite racing events of the year is nearly upon us: the 6th Annual Race Your House is set for Saturday, October 22.

Where else but on Shilshole Bay can Pacific Northwest liveaboards duke it out for the honor of fastest “house” on Puget Sound? This will be our fourth time competing in the race, and we couldn’t be more excited to support the event brought to you by the Sloop Tavern Yacht Club and the Washington Liveaboard Association (note: you MUST be a liveaboard to enter).

Whether you’re an experienced racer or not, home owners can sign up for flying sails and non-flying sails classes and registration will be taken “As long as the band’s playing, and there’s beer in the keg…” at Friday night Skipper’s Meeting at the Ballard VFW. The event kicks off with The Fall Membership Meeting of the Sloop Tavern Yacht Club followed by music by The Bill Derry Band.

After the racing action on Saturday, join your fellow sailors for awards and the always popular raffle at the Sloop Tavern.

As an aside, the Seattle Yacht Club’s Gran Prix will be going on at the same time. Please be aware of your surroundings and vigilant at all times as there will be a lot of other boats out racing. Race Your House organizers are working to keep the two events as separate as possible, but good judgement is up to each skipper.
Go HERE to sign up, get a rating, check out the competition or see past results — we’ll see you out there!
