A comprehensive and fast paced panel discussion, I’ll join John and Amanda Neal (Mahina Expeditions), Behan and Jamie Gifford (Sailing Totem) and Will Curry (Hydrovane) to answer host Sarah Curry’s questions. We’ll cover what you should prioritize when choosing and outfitting an offshore boat and a range of other topics from self sufficiency to heavy weather tactics to life changing landfalls. Learn from our mistakes and benefit from our tips for making a safe passage down the Washington and Oregon coasts and to exciting destinations beyond… Register online and submit your own questions.

700-miles Downwind to Alaska: How a One Summer Voyage Turned Into Three

Wednesday, January 29th, 5:15 PM & Saturday, February 1st, 3:00 PM at Stage #3 North Hall (Wed) and Stage #6 Club Level (Sat).

An updated version of the seminar I gave at the 2019 Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, I’ll take a dive into our family voyage from Victoria, British Columbia in 2017 up the west coast of Vancouver Island to Haida Gwaii and then on to Southeast Alaska. From there, what was supposed to be a one summer cruise then turned into three summers and thousands of miles sailing to Kodiak Island, Prince William Sound, the Kenai Peninsula and wintering in Seward. Come along for the ride down this unconventional path through one of the world’s most incredible cruising grounds and learn tips and ask questions about taking a similar route.
